May 8, 9, 10 and 11 - It is determined that Debray arrived in Ñancahuazú on March 6, made contact with Andrés in the Hotel Sucre in La Paz, and then with Tania with whom he traveled by land to Ñancahuazú, meeting Bustos in that trip. |
May 14 - Debray wrote a letter to Dr. González to clarify and rectify some points of his statements; said letter was personally delivered to Gen. Ovando by the J-2. Intense attention continued being applied on Bustos and, taking advantage of his asthmatic condition, it was suggested to him to declare all he knew. As the man turned out to be a good painter, he sketched from memory several portraits of the guerrilla fighters, which worked out very well when compared with photographs of some known individuals. He drew 20 portraits for us, which were distributed to the "EMGE" and the 4th Division. Afterwards he started writing his memoirs, whose original is kept at the "EMGE." Everything that came to pass and was seen in the guerrillas up to his departure is reported there fairly and accurately. |
